With a sportier orientation, it sits lower, measures wider and, though it retains the same wheelbase, is shorter overall than the X1. The also-spoirty interior includes iDrive6, front sports seats, climate control and an auto-dimming rear view mirror. As an SUV it is well credentialed with handy cabin space and a power tailgate-accessed 470-litre boot opening up to a maximum of 1355 litres. There are four powerplants: 103kW/220Nm 18i 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo, 141kW/280Nm 2.0-litre sDrive20i turbo and, in xDrive AWD only, the 140kW/400Nm 20d 2.0-litre turbo-diesel and 225kW/450Nm 2.0-litre M35i turbo.
